Vietnam trade deal to reopen honey and venison markets
Honey and venison exports to Vietnam will resume as non-tariff barriers that blocked trade since 2017 have been cleared. Trade Minister Todd McClay says the agreement, signed during the Vietnamese president’s visit, is expected to be worth about $30 million in its first year.
“When we engage on the world stage and we hustle, we can get these barriers out of the way,” he says.
Vietnam buys about $1 billion of New Zealand primary sector product a year.
