Lead economist at Bagrie Economics, Cameron Bagrie, says inflation will shape New Zealand’s economic and political direction over the next two years.
“Inflation is the big ruthless variable that’s going to dictate economic policy and political policy over the next 12 to 24 months,” he says.
“The central scenario at the moment is inflation has a four in front of it”, though he says a move towards 7% remains possible.
“We now live in a world where we call it jandalnomics.”
