Groundswell NZ wants Farmlands’ investment in AgriZeroNZ withdrawn and its chair, Rob Hewett, to step down.
Groundswell NZ co-founder Bryce McKenzie says shareholder resolutions at the Farmlands AGM will seek both. “Shareholders do not like the fact that their money is being dished out to something else without their prior knowledge,” he says.
He says Groundswell has opposed AgriZeroNZ since its inception, and the issue came to a head because Rob Hewett also chairs AgriZeroNZ.
He says Farmlands has told members the investment was a management decision and it is sticking with it.
He says Groundswell is advising shareholders on how to lodge proxies before the AGM, and doesn’t condone online attacks on Rob Hewett.
“We wanted to talk about and discuss that at the AGM.”
