Shear for Life

A Canterbury woolshed in February 2025 is the venue for an event in memory of old mates lost to cancer. Shear for Life was last held in 2019 and the charity shearing event, supporting the Ashburton Cancer Society and Hospice Mid-Canterbury, will again be staged at the Ewing family’s Hindsridge Farm.

The challenge ahead of them is to beat the $90,000 raised for charity last time. Seasoned shearers will work their way through 3,000 sheep over eight hours with shearers over the age of 50 paying respect to friends that have passed away from cancer.
