Following unprecedented demand for Sprayfo milk replacers during the 2018 rearing season, AgriVantage has appointed Cheryl Farrar as South Island business manager.
“A former dairy farmer with several years’ experience in multiple farm service businesses, Cheryl is the ideal fit for our team” AgriVantage national business manager Warren Tanner says.
“She has a great reputation amongst South Island farmers and retail stores for excellent service. And she’ll be an asset to both AgriVantage and farmers in the roles of technical support and rearing specialist.”
Cheryl comes from a dairy farming family and began her career in dairying at Mosgiel, milking 1200 cows. She also reared calves for several years.
Since then, Cheryl has continued to relief milk while also working as sales consultant for Fiberfresh, territory manager for CRV and most recently as technical sales consultant for Milkbar.
She particularly enjoyed her role with CRV: “Watching people’s herds increase in value with more fertile, productive and capacious animals was the most rewarding feeling” she says.
“Knowing there’s a huge amount of time and money invested in breeding animals, I have a very good idea of how important it is to get those animals off to the best start possible and grow them to their fullest genetic potential.
“That’s why I’ve joined AgriVantage. I look forward to being part of a business that is focused on rearing healthy animals, selling products that are scientifically developed and proven effective. I am passionate about these products and helping farmers to use them to gain good results.”
Cheryl stresses that she does not take a one size fits all approach. “Finding solutions for individual farms is what I am about.”
Based in mid-Canterbury, Cheryl will support South Island farmers while Warren continues to manage AgriVantage at a national level.
