This is a free tool which aids decision making on animal health based on each farm’s unique needs and is continuing to prove popular with sheep farmers in the lead up to the critical prelamb period. It helps navigate this complex subject, taking into account factors such as drench resistance which is becoming increasingly common throughout New Zealand. 

The guide walks you through simple questions to help determine if drenching is required, and if so what drench and pre-lamb clostridial vaccines are likely to best suit your needs.

Farmers are encouraged to use this decision guide in consultation with their animal health advisor.

The tool available at was created to help New Zealand farmers maximise productivity and profitability on-farm and is supported by expert advice from MSD Animal Health’s team of veterinarians.
