Australian rural commentator Libby Price says two of Australia’s largest tomato processors have been caught passing Chinese paste off as home-grown.

“There’s absolutely no way that someone didn’t know,” she says.

“You can’t be importing tomato paste from China and not know.”

The eight-month investigation has also drawn a claim from a Green MP that some consumers have unknowingly eaten horse meat.

She says Australian labelling rules are part of the problem, letting companies add water to an imported product and call it local.

She covers the resignation of Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan, whose Labor government angered farmers with a proposed levy on the volunteers who fight rural fires.
