Rural and lifestyle listings in Taupo are at an all-time low while buyer demand runs high, say Bayleys Taupo agents.
Rural sales agent Brooke Garland says good payouts, interest rates and strong commodity prices are behind it.
“The mood has definitely significantly improved in the last 12 to 18 months,” she says.
“There’s a lot of confidence in the market.”
Farmers have liquidity and little reason to sell.
“No one’s really coming to the market at the moment, so that’s kind of creating that supply and demand situation.”
Branch manager Yvette Westerman says a district plan change has opened subdivision of rural blocks.
“There’s been a real increase in two hectare blocks that have come to the market,” she says.
Garland says sellers should not wait.
“The stars are kind of aligning at the moment, high demand competition, and lack of supply.”
