Bayleys Hamilton lifestyle, farm and country salesperson Angus Kelly says Rata Downs, in the Putāruru-Tokoroa area, is set up for one person to run.

“All the paddocks are one to two hectare sizes, so very, very easy for someone to come in and just run a pretty simple system where all they have to do is simply open gates.”

Kelly says the farm suits local dairy farmers wanting a support block.

“They can plant plenty of maize to ship back to the dairy farm, but they could also chuck their heifers on the farm.”
