An 80ha dairy farm at Turua on the Hauraki Plains goes to auction, pitched as a first-farm option, Bayleys Hamilton country and lifestyle salesperson Karl Davis says.
Davis says the flat block is a traditional Hauraki Plains farm with two houses and two titles.
“Only milking once a day probably creates a better lifestyle, and less power and equipment use,” he says.
Values across the plains have lifted from the 30s into the 40s, following record Canterbury sales of about $89,000 a hectare. Davis says more liquid lending is helping first-farm buyers.
“The banks want market share. They will lend.”
