A quad bike accident costs the average farmer 82 days off work, says Natalie Bowie, programme lead for Safer Farms.

Safer Farms has launched their Safer by Design white paper with a spread of tools, from crush protection devices to wearables.

Bowie says the goal is not zero injury.

“It’s about how we actually build a system where we can have our farmers and growers failing safely,” she says.

Her Farmers Leading Farmers programme is building on community learning.

“Farmers don’t necessarily want to listen to me; they want to listen to the farmer over the fence.”
