Drone company DJI has released the new Mavic 2 Enterprise, the drone they say farmers have been waiting for. DJI, the world’s leader in civilian drones and aerial imaging technology, recently unveiled the Mavic 2 Enterprise, a portable drone with powerful features designed for commercial use.

“Mavic 2 Enterprise is the world’s most capable commercial drone, purpose-built to serve the operational needs of our industry partners as well as companies that are just now preparing to embrace the benefits of drone technology”, DJI president Roger Luo says.

“DJI’s hardware and software set the standard for aerial innovation around the globe, and Mavic 2 Enterprise is the most compact, powerful, reliable and safe tool to help professionals integrate drones into their operations.”

For the global product release, DJI focussed on the drone’s capabilities for search and rescue, however local experts DJI Ferntech say the drone is the ultimate tool for New Zealand farmers.

The Mavic 2 Enterprise features an ultra-compact and foldable design with an array of advanced controls and accessories that can be attached to the craft.

A new 100dB two-way speaker means farmers can now direct their dogs by voice through the drone. Farmers can even apply a barking sound to the speaker, so the drone can actively work with their team of dogs.

The high-resolution, 12-megapixel zoom camera extends the pilot’s sense of sight with a 2x optical and 3x digital zoom capability.

This allows farmers to gain better visibility in hard-to-reach locations, whether gaining access to deep gullies or tricky terrain or inspecting shed roofs or water troughs.

The package also includes a powerful dual spotlight with a brightness of 2400 lumens for better visibility in low light—a must-have for hunters.

Adam Kerr from DJI Ferntech, who has been selling drones to Kiwi farmers since 2013, believes there has been a shift in the way that drones are being utilised in NZ.

“Alongside the Phantom 4 RTK, which was released for the surveying industry, the Mavic 2 Enterprise is a sign that drones are being applied as tools rather than toys. We are seeing an uptake from industries like construction, agriculture, asset inspection and public services, who are seeing the opportunities to employ drones as part of their day-to-day toolkit.”
