David has 20 years experience in rural media, beginning as a rural journalist then as an account manager for NZ’s leading rural publications. He enjoys the changes going on in the industry and the new ways we can tell the stories of rural NZ.

He grew up on the family farm in the King Country and has been based in Christchurch since completing an arts degree at Canterbury. He gets back to the farm whenever possible and has a strong interest in the way people connect with land.

“It’s a privilege to be part of an industry connected to the rural sector. I don’t think urban people understand how vital, complex and diverse farm life is and believe farming will eventually be seen as a leading environmental industry.”

His sport for the last 15 years has been waka ama and is often out paddling on Lyttelton Harbour with his wife Barbara.
