A New South Wales rural agent says well set-up mixed farms in the Central West are going for A$10,000 an acre or more.
McGrath Estate Agents rural salesperson Scott Petersen, based about 250km west of Sydney, says tree changers who could work remotely poured out of the city.
“Dare I say it out loud, but COVID was one of the greatest things that ever happened to rural and regional real estate,” he says.
Petersen says that growth has cooled, and country further out towards Dubbo recently sold for about A$5,000 an acre.
He says sheep, wool, cattle, beef and lamb prices are strong, and good rain arrived at the right time this spring.
“In a very basic way, our rural markets are somewhat grass-fed.”
