Another year of positive pricing is coming for beef and lamb. Simon Quilty of Global Agritrends says cattle have another 50c a kilo of upside to October next year.

“Next year for lamb in particular is what I would call rinse and repeat,” he says.

A 30% United States tariff would take $1 a kilo off next year’s lamb peak, and global slaughterings are forecast to fall 15% over 2027 and 2028 as cattle cycles rebuild.

He says Australia shipped only 700t to India last year, a price-sensitive market.

“My advice is to keep your powder dry.”
