The Wood Processors and Manufacturers Association has released a five-point election manifesto.

Chief executive, Mark Ross, says the manifesto covers value-added products, market access and trade, domestic infrastructure, government procurement and workforce.

He says an India free trade agreement would remove 95% of tariffs on wood products on day one.

“In pre-2020, we exported over $320 million worth of wood products, logs, pulp to India, and that’s dropped right down to 70 million,” he says.

India is predicted to become a $1.5 billion wood market.
