A bacon and egg pie from Sean Vo of Levain Bakery in Blockhouse Bay has won the 2026 Bakels New Zealand Supreme Pie Award, New Zealand Bakels managing director Brent Kersel says.

The pie earned a perfect score.

“It was a standout with all the judges,” he says.

“The flavour was outstanding; it wasn’t dry, the moisture, the seasoning, the salt, the pepper, a little bit of cheese note.”

The competition ran across 11 categories, with 10 feeding into the supreme title.

“It’s really hard to get a bad pie these days.”
