New Zealand is on track to cut biogenic methane by just 7.9% by 2030, short of the statutory 10% target, Climate Change Commission chief executive Jo Hendy says.

“It is really about pace, not direction,” she says.

“New Zealand is heading in the right direction – emissions have been coming down, but nowhere near fast enough to put the country on track for its emissions targets.”
