Precision Farming has acquired horticulture and viticulture technology operator NuPoint, expanding the New Zealand ag company’s connected-farming platform across the Tasman.

Chloe Walker, CEO of Precision Farming, says the deal is about linking the vehicles, spreaders and spray systems farmers already use into their compliance and fertiliser platforms.

“Every vehicle they’ve got is connected, every litre of fuel used, every mil of chemical used can be applied at the right place at the right time,” she says.

She says suppliers such as Fonterra and Nestlé increasingly want an auditable record of nitrogen use, emissions and withholding periods.

“That supply chain traceability is going to become increasingly required of us.”
