New Zealand Wool Collective brings wool promotion under one roof
Wool Impact and Campaign for Wool New Zealand have merged into a single organisation, the New Zealand Wool Collective, following two years of collaboration. The Collective will be led by Wool Impact’s Ross McIsaac.
He says the Collective maintains Campaign for Wool’s international connections and will keep working with supply and value chain companies.
“We’ve got limited resources. We’re trying to achieve the same thing. It’s obviously always better to do it together,” he says.
He says farmgate prices have risen 80% since 2022, driven by tighter supply and genuine demand for carpets, bedding and emerging products such as interior acoustics.
Long-term funding is the next step, with a potential wool levy under discussion alongside Beef + Lamb New Zealand and the Wool Research Organisation of New Zealand.
“If we’re going to keep this work going, then we need to secure that long-term support.”
A levy would require majority grower support under the Commodity Levies Act.
