Only ACT and the Green Party have agreed to front the Council of Licensed Firearms Owners’ live town hall meetings before the election.

The events are part of the group’s election-year work, spokesperson Hugh Devereux-Mack says.

“One of the things we’ve started doing is making sure that we do our part to ensure voters are informed as possible about who they are voting for,” he says.

He says COLFO invited every party, sent them an industry brief and 10 standard questions on the register and fit-and-proper rules, and published their responses on its website.

“For regular firearms owners, accessing politicians isn’t always the most easy thing, so we wanted to build that,” he says.

The sessions stream live on YouTube and Facebook and are posted afterwards, he says.
