Democrats are heading for about an 80-seat majority in the US House of Representatives and a 10-seat majority in the Senate after the midterm elections.
Political commentator Todd Muller says President Donald Trump now needs the Democrats to pass any law or budget. “It’s a significant repudiation of Trump.”
Muller says the Iran war and the rise in oil prices that followed amplified the cost of living, which drove young men away from the Republicans. He says the immigration crackdown turned Hispanic voters and many Southern businesses against the party, because farmers couldn’t get workers.
Kansas last sent a Democrat to the Senate in 1932.
He says Trump will rely on executive orders and speeches for his last two years. “He is a lame duck president.”
