Water is leaving the Ashburton Lakes property farmed by Ballance Farm Environment Awards Canterbury supreme winners Kerry and Paul Harmer slightly better than when it arrives.

“We can say we know what the water is doing,” Kerry says.

They test about 25 sites monthly through an MPI-funded catchment group.

Paul says the awards process was far less daunting than expected, and encourages others to enter.
