Those with a penchant for all things deer will find plenty points of interest – antler in particular – at the World of Deer Museum in Wanaka. On display are more than 90 heads of antler, mostly from animals bred at Stanfield Oaks Stud formerly owned by museum director and industry stalwart Clive Jermy.

He opened the museum, along with business partner Harry Yu, in early September last year. Since then a number of local and international visitors have come along to view what’s on offer. Clive guarantees a full-on visual and educational experience. As well as the antlers there are information panels and pictures overviewing the development of the deer industry in New Zealand, and a world map identifying the many different breeds of deer around the globe. Clive supplements the visual with his vast industry knowledge, which he clearly enjoys sharing with visitors.

There is a range of retail products including deer-based Cervidor remedies, carved antler and specialist hunting knives.

The museum, alongside the Toy and Transport museum next to the Wanaka airport, is available for hire for conferences and special events.
