AgriZeroNZ has launched a request for proposals to design a model where the costs and benefits of reducing livestock emissions are shared across the value chain.

Ruth Leary, Head of Strategy and Engagement at AgriZeroNZ, says the model is still in the design phase and would pay farmers to use technologies such as a bolus.

“They won’t actually be out of pocket by using the bolus.”

She says the bolus is in the final stages of its regulatory process and could be used by farmers later this year or early next.

She says the winning company designs the model, possibly across two or three supply chains.
